Major Achievements of the China-US Energy Efficiency Alliance
The Alliance created its Leadership Council and Technical Advisory Group consisting of key U.S. and China energy efficiency experts and decisionmakers who, in addition to its Board, help to guide and support the work of the Alliance.
In conjunction with the Natural Resources Defense Council, the Alliance:
Designed China's first large-scale energy efficiency incentive program in Jiangsu Province
Established a groundbreaking cooperative agreement between California and Jiangsu Province to facilitate energy efficiency activities
Provided guidance and recommendations to the highest levels of the Chinese government on the development of national and provincial DSM policies and programs
Presented detailed comments on China’s draft comprehensive Energy Law, in collaboration with the Alliance Technical Advisory Group
Initiated and co-sponsored the first and second annual “Forum on Demand Side Management” in Beijing to discuss DSM and share best practices
Worked with NDRC to develop a national DSM Implementation Manual for China, setting out international best practices for DSM implementation, monitoring and verification adapted to the circumstances in China
Co-sponsored trip to US of a CCTV film crew to film and tape interviews in San Francisco and New York for a seven-part documentary series on energy efficiency, which aired on CCTV in August 2008. See a clip of the series below.
Co-sponsored visits to the US of key Chinese officials to share experience with US officials, utilities, research organizations, energy-related companies, and others
Co-sponsored visits to China by US energy and utility Commissioners
In addition, the Alliance hosts an on-going “Roundtable Series” in California and the West Coast where leaders in energy efficiency can: gain insights on energy-related developments in China from key experts; exchange information and experience; and network with others working in this field.
